About
Aurélien Michaud — music producer, mastering engineer and aspiring media composer, was first introduced to music at a very young age, thanks to the family's low-cost turntable and its two crackling speakers projecting sound throughout his childhood home.
Jack-of-all-trades by nature, Aurélien took his first piano and music theory lessons at the age of 7, before taking on the guitar. However, it was at the age of 13 that he discovered the drums, which would quickly become his favorite instrument. Teaching himself how to play allowed him to join various rock and heavy metal formations throughout his teenage years, but his burning passion to constantly learn more and explore various sounds, instruments and genres pushed him to expand his horizons and to initiate himself to sound synthesis and to compose in various genres, by himself or in collaborations. More than music itself, it is precisely this fascination for sound and a need for personal accomplishment that naturally led him to learn how to produce and mix, before discovering the methodical and subtle art of mastering.
Always inspired by every piece of art he can come across, but mainly by films and composers such as Angelo Badalamenti, Wendy Carlos or Brian Eno, it was only natural for Aurélien to fuse all his experiences and influences together, and begin composing music destined for visual media, whether it is for feature films, documentaries, TV or video games. Parallel to his media composing journey, Aurélien also runs a limited and independent mastering gig, and continues to produce and release music in collaboration with lifelong partners, or solo under his name as well as various stage names, like Odd Marauder.
